At TU Wien, the Energy Economics Group (EEG) is a department that deals with the system analysis and techno-economic consideration of the transition of the energy and transport sectors to sustainability. In this context, a high granularity of modelling plays a major role, both in terms of spatial and temporal resolution.
TU Wien will develop the transport sector component in the iDesignRES project covering both passenger and freight transport modelling. An existing open-source traffic-flow model with high spatial granularity and hourly resolution will be adapted/extended by TU Wien with emphasis on optimal energy infrastructure capacity expansion planning.
