Event Description

The European Climate and Energy Modelling Platform 2026 (ECEMP 2026) will take place on 21-22 October 2026 in Brussels and online.

Organised within the framework of the European Climate and Energy Modelling Forum (ECMF), the conference brings together researchers, modellers and policymakers working on European climate and energy pathways.

ECEMP 2026 will focus on the major challenges shaping Europe’s transition to climate neutrality by 2050, including energy security, industrial competitiveness and social impacts.

The conference promotes collaboration between modelling communities and encourages integrated approaches that go beyond the energy system alone, addressing economic, social and policy dimensions.

Key themes include competitiveness and climate policies, strategic resources and energy security, near-term policy design, social justice, market integration of new technologies, and collaboration and interoperability between models.

The conference will also explore interactions between energy system models, climate models and integrated assessment models.

The event will be organised in a hybrid format, with in-person participation in Brussels primarily intended for presenters and project representatives, and online access available for a wider audience.

Event Summary

ECEMP 2026 will provide an important platform for the iDesignRES project to exchange with the European modelling community and present results on energy system scenarios and modelling tools.

Participation will support collaboration with related Horizon Europe projects and contribute to discussions on integrated modelling approaches addressing climate neutrality, energy security and economic competitiveness in Europe.
