Energy Transition in the North Sea Region: Planning Outlook and Energy System Integration

All details about this event

Event #1

Event Description

A one-day workshop in Oslo bringing together research, industry and policy to discuss the energy challenges facing the North Sea region, from offshore wind and grid design to storage, hydrogen and Nordic hydropower.

Event Summary

The North Sea is central to Europe's energy transition, combining fast growing offshore wind, flexible Nordic hydropower and interconnected grids, while still supplying much of Europe's oil and gas. Turning this fossil heartland into a clean, secure and affordable energy system raises shared questions on offshore wind build out, grid and market design, and the role of storage and hydrogen. This one day workshop in Oslo, on 15 September 2026 from 10:00 to 16:00, brings together research institutes, universities, industry and policy to discuss these challenges and share results from ongoing projects and research centres. It offers open cross sector exchange, presentations on offshore wind, grids, markets and storage, and space to identify shared priorities for the North Sea's transition.
