On 15 September 2026, iDesignRES organised the online Workshop on North Sea Energy Transition, bringing together researchers, industry representatives and policymakers to discuss the future of Europe’s North Sea energy system.

The workshop explored key challenges and opportunities for the region’s energy transition, including offshore wind deployment, electricity grid design, and the role of energy storage and hydrogen. Participants shared recent research results and exchanged perspectives to identify common priorities for a more integrated and sustainable North Sea energy system.

Organised by NTNU with partners from iDesignRES, InterPlay and NTRANS, the workshop fostered cross-project collaboration to support Europe’s transition towards a resilient, interconnected and decarbonised energy system.
