iDesignRES opens its Scenario Explorer and Cloud Hub to a wider audience
On Tuesday 8 September 2026, iDesignRES hosted a dedicated session to introduce its Scenario Explorer and Cloud Hub to a wider audience, extending beyond the research community. The event aimed to demonstrate how these tools can be used in different contexts and gather feedback to support the development of practical guidelines for future users.
The session featured live walkthroughs of the North Sea use case and the Energy Vision / GENeSYS-MOD scenarios, giving participants an opportunity to explore the project’s open database and cloud platform. These demonstrations highlighted the tools’ potential applications and provided a basis for discussing how they could be adapted to different needs and constraints.
Discussions following the demonstrations focused on gathering feedback to inform the development of guidelines that will help users apply the tools to their specific cases. By considering different use cases and practical requirements, iDesignRES aims to make its tools more accessible and facilitate their uptake beyond the research community.
This event represents a step towards the wider adoption of the project’s open resources and the development of user-oriented guidance to support their application across different contexts.
The session was organised by Pedro Crespo del Granado, Pankaj Ravindra Gode and Felipe van de Sande Araujo (NTNU), Leonhard Gandhi (Fraunhofer ISE), and Daniel Huppmann (IIASA).
