NTNU, headquartered in Trondheim, stands as Norway's largest university. The key department involved in the iDesignRES project is the Department of Industrial Economics and Technology Management (IØT). Specializing in energy economics, energy transition analyzes, power systems, operations research, and data analytics, the IØT team brings extensive expertise to the project.
NTNU is the coordinator and the lead of iDesignRES. Leveraging core competencies in energy systems modelling, NTNU implements advanced models such as the Global Gas Model (GGM) and the Multi-Carrier Model (EMPIRE), among others. Additionally, NTNU spearheads the endeavour to establish cloud computing solutions tailored for energy system models in WP5.
