Dubrovnik marked a milestone in October 2025, as the SDEWES Conference celebrated its 20th, jubilee edition from 5 to 10 October, drawing 785 scientists and experts from 68 countries, with 587 oral presentations and four plenary keynote lectures across the week.

Henrik Lund, from iDesignRES partner Aalborg University, delivered one of those four plenary keynotes to an audience of 500 to 600 people, focused on the technical foundations of smart, renewable-based energy systems, the modelling framework of energy system analysis, scenario building, and cross-sector integration that AAU contributes to iDesignRES. The conference’s Project Exchange Event, where 40 research projects were presented, gave the wider SDEWES scientific community direct exposure to this kind of EU-funded modelling work.
