A new study from TU Wien (TUW)‘s Antonia Golab, an iDesignRES partner, examines who actually benefits from where public EV chargers get installed, using the open-source, high-spatial-granularity traffic-flow model that TU Wien’s Energy Economics Group is adapting for the project’s transport sector component.

Published 11 March 2026, “Public charger expansion: Impacts across income classes and beyond regional borders” applies this transport sector model to a Spanish case study at hourly resolution, examining how charging infrastructure expansion affects different income classes and spills across regional borders, work that feeds directly into iDesignRES’s Spanish use case and its broader passenger and freight transport modelling.
