iDesignRES at ECEMP 2024: Contributing to Europe’s Energy Transition
The iDesignRES project was represented by NTNU, the project coordinator, at the European Climate and Energy Modelling Platform (ECEMP) 2024 (October 16th and 17th). This event gathered experts, policymakers, and researchers to discuss advancements in energy and climate modelling and their role in achieving a climate-neutral Europe.
NTNU showcased how iDesignRES’s open-source toolbox can support policymakers and researchers in optimizing renewable energy systems. By providing advanced modelling tools, the project aims to facilitate more informed decision-making in energy planning.

During the conference, iDesignRES actively participated in discussions on energy system modelling, policy integration, and scenario development, contributing valuable insights on the interoperability of models and the importance of collaborative approaches in shaping energy policy. The event also provided an opportunity to exchange knowledge with other leading initiatives in the field, fostering potential future collaborations.
The insights gained from ECEMP 2024 will contribute to refining iDesignRES tools and expanding partnerships to further support Europe’s energy transition. As the project progresses, these interactions will help ensure that its solutions remain aligned with policy needs and industry challenges.
