iDesignRES at Basque Greentech: Aclima and Deusto showcase the Basque Country use case
The 5th edition of Basque Greentech, held in Bilbao on 29 and 30 January 2026 alongside its sister event Green Ups, drew more than 260 attendees. Day one focused on environmental technology transfer, water management, circular economy, and carbon economy; day two shifted to entrepreneurship and investment, bringing together accelerators, venture capital, and public bodies.

iDesignRES took part through two of its partners: Aclima, the Basque Environment Cluster, and Deusto University. Within the project, Aclima manages a group of entities carrying out technical demonstrations of the project’s tools in the Greater Basque Country use case, one of the project’s two industrial cluster demonstrations, and disseminates results so the maximum number of organisations can benefit. Deusto, meanwhile, develops the industrial models that track energy and material flows, including process emissions, across the sectors present in that same use case, coordinates the testing of the project’s solutions there, and is responsible for the project’s ethical assessment of results.
On 30 January, Deusto’s Alejo Silvarrey used the Green Ups session to share preliminary results from that industrial modelling work with around 50 industry professionals and policymakers, giving decision-makers in the region an early look at how the models translate into practical circularity and decarbonisation options for local industry, before those results appear in formal publications.
