NTNU, the project coordinator of iDesignRES, hosted the 22nd International Conference on the European Energy Market (EEM26) in Trondheim from 22 to 24 June 2026, together with SINTEF Energy Research and the IEEE PES Norway Chapter, giving the project a home-turf platform to showcase its work.

The programme covered seasonal storage and hydropower’s role in the energy transition, power market design and bidding zones, resilience in energy-only markets, and battery integration, alongside special sessions run by several EU projects. Among them, iDesignRES had its own dedicated slot: “Special Session H2020 iDesignRES,” held on Tuesday 23 June from 15:30 to 17:00, as part of Parallel Sessions IV.

Partners including Nord Pool and PPC contributed to the project’s dissemination at EEM26, work that connects to Nord Pool’s role modelling and validating the North Sea use case and PPC’s role testing the project’s visualisation tools in the Southern Europe macro-region use case. EEM26 gave the project a valuable opportunity to exchange with the wider European energy research community on energy system modelling and scenario development, right alongside plenary sessions from Statkraft, SINTEF, IIASA, and Statnett on the same core themes of storage, decarbonisation, and market design that iDesignRES’s own models are built to address.
