From 4 to 6 March 2026, the Rimini Expo Centre became one of Europe’s busiest energy transition hubs, as KEY, The Energy Transition Expo welcomed over 1,000 exhibitors from around 30 countries across 24 pavilions.

Amid this scale, Henrik Lund delivered a plenary keynote on “Smart Renewable Energy Systems and Climate Neutral Societies” to 100 to 200 people, carrying the iDesignRES message onto one of the continent’s largest commercial energy stages. KEY 2026 organized its floor around seven thematic areas, including photovoltaics, wind, storage, energy efficiency, e-mobility, and a dedicated Innovation District for start-ups.

The event also featured a new pavilion for EPC contractors and project finance, exactly the kind of investment-grade planning data that iDesignRES’s open-source tools are designed to support. Lund’s keynote grounded the commercial buzz in the systems thinking that shapes the project’s five real-world demonstration cases.
